1949 - Born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture
1967 - Started his apprenticeship at a Hagi yaki kiln
1972 - Awarded a prize at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Art exhibition
(He has been awarded a prize every consecutive year since then.)
1974 - Awarded a prize at the Hagi City Art exhibition
1974 - Awarded a prize at the Kyushu Yamaguchi porcelain and pottery exhibition
(He has been awarded a prize every consecutive year since then.)

1974 - Established the Furuhata kiln
1979 - Awarded a prize at the Issuikai exhibition
1980 - Held a private exhibition in Osaka and Kobe
1980-1984- Held private exhibitions at Tokyu Department Stores
1985-2000- Held private exhibitions at Tobu Department Stores

1989 - Established his own climbing kiln (nobori gama)
1994 - Awarded a prize at the Tanko Sado Art exhibition
1994 - 1999 & 2007 – awarded prizes at the Chanoyu Zoukei exhibition
1995 - Held a private exhibition at Matsuzakaya Department Store, Yokohama
2001 - Held a private exhibition at Keio Department store

Mukuhara Kashunis a respected craftsman working from his own kiln, who has won numerous prizes and exhibits regularly at major exhibitions.
He is known for his expertise in using age-old traditional techniques to produce beautiful contemporary pieces, infused with a sense of warmth and spirituality.

His earthy textured items contrast beautifully with the natural green.


Some of his high class matcha chawan and traditional shishi and hotei figures.


The floor of the chamber is filled with timber. Some items such as vases and cups are placed among these timbers so that they will be covered with ash during firing,  developing a unique surface finish.
