Banko Shidei (purple) backhandle teapot by Otsuki Shun #8
Otsuki Shun is a promising young potter who takes pride in his craft during every stage of the creative process, deriving inspiration from the advice of experienced
Banko craftsmen and tea ceremony masters.
The clay which he makes himself is of a high quality, producing a smooth finish and clean lines.
There is a subtle color difference which sets this teapot apart from their contemporaries.
It is difficult to describe in words, but this has a warmer sheen which is achieved through firing first in de-oxidized conditions, then following with an oxidized firing.
The lid is a loose fit.
